I was fortunate recently to visit a birds of prey sanctuary, it was an amazing day. To be so close to these beautiful creatures and have a Harris Hawk swoop down and take food from my gauntlet was such a great experience, something Ive dreamed of doing for a long time. It is of course sad to see them tethered to posts but these birds were there because they had been mistreated by people or owners that simply couldnt cope with handling such a predator. The keepers do fly them freely every day but some of the birds are not flown when people visit because of the danger of getting a face full of talons.
